Something new: Sweet Revenge mochi

Many people know Sweet Revenge Honolulu as a pop up that makes cute, delicious little pies at farmer’s markets and Eat the Street. But this Valentine’s Day, owner Kathy Masunaga is making a variety of filled mochi.

Here’s what the Sweet Revenge mochi looks like inside.

Each mochi box is $15 and comprised of six mochi: one each of chocolate, peanut butter crunch, red velvet, Chantilly chocolate crunch, and pumpkin crunch, plus your choice of blueberry lilikoi or fresh strawberry with chocolate. The fillings are sweet, of course, since they’re for dessert, but they’re not too much. Kathy balances out the flavors with a bit of crunch or cream, depending on what the main profile is supposed to be.

Here’s what the mochi looked like before we cut it!

Just message her on Instagram or find her at the Blaisdell farmer’s market this Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Or on Thursday at the Parish of St. Clement from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. She’ll also be at the Fort Street Mall market from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. or her kitchen in Kalihi (message her for details).

I got a preview of the Sweet Revenge mochi and, knowing I couldn’t finish it all, recruited mochi aficionado (and big eater) Yumi Ozaki to taste it with me.

Whether you’re buying this for a valentine, or just for yourself, this is a craveable treat! I’d totally get a box for myself. In fact, I probably am. Follow Kathy Masunaga on Instagram to see what else she offers.
