Preview: Ice Cream Bar HI’s new sundae kits

I’ll let you in on a little secret: Chef Brandon Lee has been making his own ice cream out of Artizen by MW. He doesn’t do it often or in big batches, but we’ve tried his different creations in the past year and they’re delicious!

This week’s sundae kit, plus I bought an extra pint.

So now, you can buy some for yourself. He’s selling pints for $10 and sundae kits for $20. Again, not often — he’s planning to release new flavors every other week. The best way to get your hands on his ice cream is to preorder via Instagram direct message (follow IceCreamBarHI even though he won’t follow anyone back) or email blee@mwrestaurant.com. IF there are any pints left over after the preorders, you MIGHT be able to get some in person at Artizen. But don’t be mad if you can’t, because I warned you that preorder is best.

And while some people might feel it’s a little expensive, you need to keep in mind that Brandon is using all high-quality ingredients and this is homemade, in small batches.

Will Chen made his sundae with the buttermilk ice cream.

This week, he featured buttermilk ice cream with a yuzu twist, blueberry compote and crushed pie crust. I found out he had mint chocolate ice cream, so I had to buy that, too. In two weeks, he plans to have vanilla, strawberry, shiso, and hopefully one “surprise” flavor.

Will Chen and I tried this latest sundae kit and it was fun! We liked that we could customize our sundaes to our liking — Will with more fruit, me with more sprinkles of pie. (Video done after temperature check, sanitizer, I showered and then removing masks just prior to seating.)
