Volunteer Law Enforcement Trade in Their Badges for Aprons During Special Olympics Hawaii’s Annual Tip A Cop Fundraiser
The event returns to benefit local athletes statewide at participating restaurants across Oahu, December 3-5
From serving our community to serving your favorite dishes, this holiday season volunteer, off-duty law enforcement officers will join forces for Special Olympics Hawaii’s annual Tip A Cop fundraiser. The event takes place Friday, December 3, through Sunday, December 5, at participating restaurants across Oahu, including several Big City Diner locations and Ruby Tuesday locations, as well as The Beach House by 604. The fundraiser aims to raise awareness and collect donations for Special Olympics Hawaii athletes and programs. The event will take place during the following dates and times:
Friday, December 3 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at:
- The Beach House by 604
- Big City Diner: Pearlridge Center, Waipio Shopping Center and Windward Mall (Windward Mall only from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
- Ruby Tuesday: Kapolei Commons, Moanalua Shopping Center, Town Center of Mililani and Windward Mall
Saturday, December 4 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at:
- The Beach House by 604
- Big City Diner: Pearlridge Center, Waipio Shopping Center and Windward Mall (Windward Mall only from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
- Ruby Tuesday: Kapolei Commons, Moanalua Shopping Center, Town Center of Mililani and Windward Mall
Sunday, December 5 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at:
- The Beach House by 604
- Big City Diner: Pearlridge Center, Waipio Shopping Center and Windward Mall (all locations from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
- Ruby Tuesday: Kapolei Commons, Moanalua Shopping Center, Town Center of Mililani and Windward Mall
“After a whole year without in-person fundraisers and events, we are so grateful to the participating restaurants and volunteer, off-duty law enforcement officers who made it possible for us to hold a second Tip A Cop fundraiser this year,” said Special Olympics Hawaii’s Director of Development, Tracey Bender. “As we prepare to bring our athletes safely back to the playing fields, we know this fundraiser and the support we receive from the community, is instrumental to making that happen.”
During the event, off-duty, volunteer law enforcement from Honolulu Police Department will put their serving skills to the test by volunteering to greet customers and assist servers in a variety of duties in efforts to raise tips for Special Olympics Hawaii’s programs. Since its inception, Tip A Cop has raised almost $400,000 for Special Olympics Hawaii. For more information, visit sohawaii.org.
