Fire It Up! on Maui this weekend
Americans love barbecue, and summer is the perfect season for it. The Grand Wailea on Maui has celebrated this season for the last three years with a huge celebrity BBQ on their oceanfront lawn, and this year, they’re expanding it to a full weekend.
Fire It Up! is Grand Wailea’s annual summer barbecue, usually just one night that showcases meats and techniques from celebrity chefs from around the country. This weekend, they’re adding a seafood feast on Friday night. Hey, it’s Hawaii, after all. We love our meats, but you can’t forget that we are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and all of its bounty.
They also have expanded the chef lineup, both locally and nationally. You’ll get a chance to meet and talk to Jonathan Waxman, Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, Xavier Salomon, Tadashi Yoshino, Hubert Keller, Alvin Savella, Ed Kenney, Mark Noguchi, Sam Jones, Justin Brunson, Wayne Mueller, Chris Lilly, John Tesar, Miguel Vidal, Cody Taylor, Jiyeon Lee, Daniel Anthony, Sheldon Simeon, Ryan Urig, Mike Lofaro, Fabrice Benezit, and Jo Soeung.
There’s a reason this event just gets bigger and bigger every year. It’s delicious, it’s fun, and it’s a unique opportunity to meet some of the best barbecue masters in the country. In fact, when I was filing my photos from last year, I couldn’t help but laugh and smile as I remembered some great moments.
