Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show promotes pet adoption

For the third year, my daughter and I were honored to participate in The Annual Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show, an entertainment segment at The Hawaii Woman Expo on September 9 and 10 at The Blaisdell Exhibition Hall!

On both days, celebrities with their pets or adoptable dogs walked the runway at 12:30 p.m. The twist to this special event is that the humans were not the ones wearing the fashions, the pets were! Al Waterson hosted this annual event.

The purpose of this unique fashion show is to bring awareness to pet adoption and encourage volunteerism and foster homes for dogs at The Hawaii Dog Foundation and Paws of Hawaii. Representatives from the organizations were there to provide information on how to adopt a lovable pet from their organization or how to be a foster family to a homeless dog.

“We are happy to say numerous dogs and puppies have been adopted by wonderful homes after their participation in The Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show,” adds event organizer Nancy Bernal.

I always enjoy seeing my colleagues and friends, and Olivia likes petting the dogs and cats. It’s a wonderful cause. Olivia and I are animal lovers!

Peace of mind By Diane Ako I like to reflect on life. Sometimes it’s philosophically. Sometimes it’s humorously. For all its beauty, life is far too difficult a journey to take alone. You need the support and connection with others to help carry you along the way. Writing brings me that connection– within and without. It clarifies my thoughts and feelings. It helps me reach out to others for advice, wisdom, or feedback. Your thoughts become your actions. Your actions become you. A wise yogi- Patanjali- said, “Speak what is true. Speak what is pleasant.” Let’s speak of things pleasant to one another and seek some peace of mind along the way. ABOUT Diane Ako joined Hawaii: In Real Life in October 2016.
