Aloha From the Island Miler

Aloha, everyone! My name is Kyle, though I also go by my handle the Island Miler. Perhaps you’ve seen my content before on BoardingArea blog Jeffsetter, Roaming Hawaii, or Hawaii Kine Grinds? Or, maybe you’ve seen my photos on Instagram. But if you haven’t, that’s ok. On those blogs, I tend to focus on travel, travel loyalty programs, credit cards, and food. And, while I’ll likely touch on those topics here, I plan to branch out into more everyday topics here on Hawaii IRL.
A Little About Myself
I’m a local boy that’s called Oahu home all my life. A graduate of Pearl City High School (yes, I was in band), I stayed at home for college (no, not UH system), married my high school sweetheart, and now work in financial services marketing.
As far as interests go, I have MANY. Based on my blogging activity, you can guess that I love traveling and eating. However, because I can’t really afford to travel much, I also have an interest in how to use credit cards and loyalty programs to be able to afford the travel that I do get to do. Beyond that, though, I do have an interest in cooking, am a rail buff, am an AvGeek (aviation), have an interest in space flight and exploration, love cars, and an Apple fan. I’m also an amateur photographer and drone photographer, though I’m not particularly good at either of these things!

What to Expect
Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out what topics I’ll write about here on Hawaii IRL. As I mentioned before, though, I intend to focus more on everyday life types of posts. So, I’m thinking I’ll write about local finds, cooking, and probably a few random topics as they pop into my head. And, while I’ll likely reserve travel posts to the two travel blogs I already contribute to, I may write about some local-specific travel topics here too.
But, hey, I’m always open to suggestions as well. So if there’s a topic you’d like me to cover, let me know and I’ll give it a shot!
Final Thoughts
I’m happy and excited to be a part of the Hawaii IRL team. As many of you already know, the team here is made up of a fantastic bunch of people. So, I’d like to say thank you to Russ for extending an invitation to me, to Mark for putting up with me, and to the rest of the team for putting up with me too.
